The Lufthansa Group is revolutionizing the in-flight experience by introducing state-of-the-art high-speed Wi-Fi across its short and medium-haul European routes. This ambitious rollout spans over 150 Airbus A220/320 family aircraft—including the A220, A319, A320ceo, A320neo, A321ceo, and A321neo—operated by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and now SWISS.
Installation of the advanced connectivity systems began in late 2024 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, ensuring a seamless digital journey for travelers across the Group's network. With this upgrade, SWISS joins Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Eurowings in delivering broadband internet on intra-European flights, reflecting a commitment to digital innovation that began with Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines' initial launches in 2017.
A standout feature now available on Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines: all passengers can enjoy unlimited complimentary messaging throughout their flight on Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft. Simply log in to FlyNet using your Miles & More membership or a registered Lufthansa Group Travel ID email to access this service. For those seeking faster browsing and streaming, enhanced Premium internet packages start from just six euros—prices were significantly reduced at the start of 2025 to improve accessibility.
Passengers can also access Lufthansa Group airline apps and a suite of digital services absolutely free via the onboard portals—FlyNet for Lufthansa and Austrian, Wings Connect for Eurowings, and the newly launched SWISS Connect for SWISS flights. These platforms offer live flight status, real-time connection updates, digital customer support, e-journal downloads, Worldshop catalogs, and the latest onboard menus. Service offerings differ by airline but are curated to meet the needs of discerning travelers.
Enhanced connectivity doesn't just benefit passengers—it empowers crew with real-time operational tools, from optimizing flight paths to reducing fuel burn and minimizing environmental impact, supporting the Group's ongoing sustainability targets.
