KLM Soars with Butterflies: New Fleet Embraces Sustainability
KLM continues its legacy of christening its aircraft with meaningful names—this year, the airline's team selected butterflies as a symbol of renewal and environmental stewardship. The introduction of the Airbus A321neo, adorned with names such as Swallowtail and Peach Blossom, is a bold step in KLM’s ongoing commitment to its "Cleaner, Quieter, More Efficient" fleet transformation strategy.
The new A321neo models are engineered for eco-conscious performance, delivering a remarkable 21% reduction in CO2 emissions per passenger-kilometer. This positions KLM at the vanguard of sustainable aviation in 2025, meeting and exceeding the latest EU environmental benchmarks.
The inaugural A321neo—Swallowtail—will join the fleet in late August, with further additions including Peach Blossom, Common Brimstone, and Waved Carpet set to enhance KLM’s network throughout the year. These aircraft feature the latest in noise reduction technology and advanced fuel efficiency, ensuring a quieter, greener journey for premium travelers.
