By offering curated wardrobe rentals, JAL enables passengers to travel lighter, reducing their checked baggage and, in turn, contributing to lower carbon emissions.
This exclusive service offers a seamless solution for eco-conscious travelers: guests can reserve apparel online prior to their arrival and collect their chosen items directly at their hotel. The garments—sourced from surplus inventory and gently used apparel—are carefully selected to meet the diverse style and size preferences of international visitors, reinforcing the principles of a circular economy.
Sumitomo Corporation, JAL’s trusted partner, oversees all aspects of the service: sourcing, professional cleaning, and efficient delivery and collection of the clothing. JAL is actively tracking the impact of this initiative by monitoring reductions in baggage weight and calculating the resulting decrease in aircraft carbon output, a move that underscores the airline’s commitment to environmental leadership.
To participate, travelers must secure their clothing rental at least 30 days before arrival. Rentals can be enjoyed for up to two weeks and are conveniently picked up and returned at the guest’s designated hotel.
