Finland's national airline is rolling out a new feature for its frequent flyers enrolled in the Finnair Plus program - the integration of a text-messaging platform accessible on all European journeys carried out by its single-aisle Airbus aircraft.
This set to enhance the in-flight experience by enabling seamless communication at an altitude of 35,000 feet and will support text exchanges via popular apps including WhatsApp, Viber, Kakao Talk, WeChat, and iMessage.
Passengers will benefit from this free service for the duration of their flight.
Anssi Partanen, the Finnair Market Director for the UK and Ireland, acknowledged the increased demand for in-flight connectivity, predicting that passengers will warmly welcome this innovation.
In addition to these advancements, starting January 2024, a special perk awaits Finnair Plus Gold and Platinum members who will see their current 30-minute complimentary browsing upgrade to a streaming package.
Members at the Platinum Lumo tier of Finnair Plus will continue to enjoy free access to the full-flight streaming service on their shorter trips.
This text-messaging feature complements the existing Wi-Fi options for European flights, which include upgraded Browse or Stream packages. These premium options are designed for passengers who wish to share multimedia content and are available at a nominal charge.
