Finnair commits to more sustainability initiatives

Finnair has intensified its commitment to sustainability by launching several measures aimed at lowering its carbon footprint both in-flight and on the ground.

The airline has acquired 750 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) which will be used on flights departing from Helsinki airport. This SAF supply, set for delivery early this year, will be sufficient for about 400 flights between Helsinki and Stockholm, operating on 100% unblended SAF. A small portion of each ticket's price is being allocated to cover the expenses associated with using sustainable aviation fuel.

In addition, passengers can help reduce emissions by using Finnair's carbon offsetting service which encompasses both SAF purchases and certified offsetting projects.

This month, Finnair has added 105 electric-powered ground equipment vehicles to its fleet, including dedicated Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric vans. 45% of Finnair ground operation vehicles will be electric.
