Emirates unveils robotic check-in assistant

Sara - Emirates' new mobile robotic check-in system - is, according to the airline, a “technology-focused solution of the future”.

Located within ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the new City Check-in and Travel Store - where Sara lives - provides customers with a convenient way to book travel, check-in for flights, drop off luggage, purchase travel necessities, and save time at the airport.

The City Check-in and Travel Store occupies a prime, high-end location within Dubai's financial centre and caters to busy professionals by allowing them to drop off their luggage anywhere from 24 hours to 4 hours before a flight, giving them the freedom to arrive at the airport at their leisure. Customers can access the facility daily from 8:00am to 10:00pm, starting their journey with a smooth check-in process, whether through self-check-in kiosks, dedicated desks with Emirates agents, or with the assistance of Sara — the world's first check-in robot assistant.

Sara, a mobile robotic check-in system, is capable of matching faces with scanned passports, checking passengers in, and directing them to the luggage drop-off area.

The City Check-in and Travel Store features a 2.5-metre LCD screen displaying the latest destination content from Emirates, alongside additional screens showcasing an interactive touchscreen map. This sleek, modern space offers customers the chance to book tickets, browse travel merchandise, drop off luggage, and check in. Paid valet parking and self-parking options ensure a new check-in experience for Emirates passengers. Visitors can also receive expert advice and offers on popular destinations, with dedicated travel consultants available to assist with ticket purchases for future trips, managing current bookings, buying upgrades, selecting preferred seats, and arranging extra baggage if necessary.

Emirates passengers possessing valid boarding passes can explore the surrounding area or unwind before their flight with complimentary access to select lifestyle amenities within ICD Brookfield Place. They can also enjoy exclusive discounts and special offers at various restaurants, fitness centres, and upscale stores, including Josette, 1Rebel, Lulu and the Beanstalk, and Embody Fitness.

To reach the airport, passengers can opt for a taxi, Emirates chauffeur service, or take a brief 10-minute walk to the Financial Centre Metro Station, which connects directly to Airport Terminal 3 Metro Station.
