Emirates is launching an exclusive collection of upcycled luggage and accessories. This special capsule collection, handcrafted from materials salvaged from retrofitted aircraft, includes suitcases, backpacks, handbags, and other items, all made by Emirates tailors at their Dubai Engineering facility.
Set to be sold next year in Emirates Official Stores, all proceeds will go to support children through the Emirates Airline Foundation.
This collection offers a tangible piece of aviation history, utilising materials from Emirates’ iconic A380 and 777 aircraft. The repurposed materials include aluminum, leather from onboard lounge couches, seatbelts, and more, salvaged from 16 retrofitted aircraft.
Customers can expect personalised options like laser engraving on these handcrafted pieces. The materials, such as high-quality leather from First Class seats and woollen seat fabrics, undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection before being transformed into these unique pieces.
Behind this project is a team of 14 Emirates ‘tailors’, skilled in aircraft interior maintenance, with four dedicated full-time to this upcycling initiative.
Additionally, the Emirates Retrofit Project, launched in August 2022, is part of a significant investment to enhance customer experience. It involves the largest fleet retrofit undertaking, aiming to upgrade the interiors of 120 Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
