Emirates is ushering in a new era of luxury air travel by introducing a revamped Business Class cabin with a 1-2-1 seating configuration on its Boeing 777 fleet. This strategic move ensures every Business Class traveler enjoys direct aisle access and enhanced privacy, eliminating the traditional middle seat for good.
The Dubai-based carrier is rolling out these upgrades across 81 Boeing 777 aircraft, with the full retrofit scheduled for completion by late 2025. Additionally, 110 Airbus A380s are being upgraded to align with Emirates’ latest premium standards.
For Business Class guests, the transition from the previous 2-3-2 layout means no more compromising on comfort. Each seat is now positioned to maximize space, privacy, and convenience, a significant leap forward for those who value exclusive in-flight experiences.
The updated Boeing 777s will showcase four distinct travel classes: a reimagined First Class with eight private suites, 40 next-generation Business Class seats, and 24 Premium Economy seats, each designed to set a new benchmark for comfort.
To date, Emirates has already upgraded over 20 A380s, with each Boeing 777 retrofit taking approximately two weeks. Once the project concludes, the airline will feature 11,182 state-of-the-art Business Class seats, nearly 2,000 modernized First Class suites, and more than 8,100 next-generation Premium Economy seats across its fleet.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, shared: “Our continued investment in cabin enhancements underscores our commitment to delivering best-in-class products. By extending these innovations to more of our A380s and Boeing 777s, we are ensuring travelers experience the highest standards of comfort and design throughout our network. The refreshed interiors and contemporary color palettes further elevate the Emirates brand.”
Emirates has also revealed the first destinations for its 10 new Airbus A350s, set to enter service in September 2025. These aircraft feature 32 all-new Business Class suites, 21 Premium Economy seats, and a refreshed Economy Class cabin. The A350s will operate on select short- and medium-haul routes across the Middle East, GCC, West Asia, and Europe—serving cities such as Edinburgh, Bologna, and Bahrain.
