The Dubai-based airlines Emirates prides itself on offering one of the finest First Class products in the world – and it just got better.
For a limited time, passengers on selected flights will be served 2003 Dom Pérignon P2 Champagne. The P2 or second plénitude is a more exclusive, and more expensive, version of that year's vintage.
Why is 2003 Dom Pérignon P2 more exclusive? For starters, it is rare because it takes much longer to produce, having gone through a longer lees ageing process than classic vintages – 15 years in this case. In turn, fewer bottles are produced.
Emirates invested USD500 million long-term in its wine program, offering its passengers the best vintages, sometimes procured up to a decade before bottles are ready to be consumed.
First Class already serves a vintage Dom Pérignon – currently an excellent 2012 – to complement its unlimited caviar offering. However, in the coming weeks, passengers on select flights, including Asia and Europe, will get to sup the 2003 Dom Pérignon P2.
Emirates have previously served the 1998 P2 and 2000 P2 vintages, but this is the first time the 2003 P2 vintage has been offered.
Dom Pérignon says, “2003 is a year that will remain forever the year that changed the history of Champagne.”
So, check your Emirates First Class wine lists in the coming weeks and see if you are in for a special treat.
