Cathay brings "plant forward" vegetarian menus to Premium Economy

Cathay Pacific, in collaboration with renowned Hong Kong eatery VEDA by Ovolo, introduces an exclusive suite of plant-forward menus for Premium Economy guests.

On select long-haul journeys departing from Hong Kong, travelers in Premium Economy and Economy can now savor a diverse menu of thoughtfully crafted vegetarian dishes. Each meal is inspired by celebrated culinary traditions from around the globe, reflecting both creativity and nutritional balance.

This partnership builds on the "Plant’d" movement spearheaded by VEDA and Ovolo Hotels, underscoring a commitment to sustainable dining and innovative vegetarian fare at altitude.

As part of Cathay Pacific’s broader sustainability strategy, the airline has made substantial advances—by 2023, it reduced single-use plastic consumption by 63% compared to 2018. The integration of these plant-based menus signals a new era of eco-conscious inflight dining experiences.

Throughout 2025, Premium Economy passengers on designated Hong Kong flights can enjoy a rotating selection of these inventive vegetarian offerings, with dishes evolving seasonally to highlight peak ingredients.

Signature Premium Economy Dishes Include:

Starters:

Bombay-style carrot salad with toasted cashews, golden raisins, and cherry tomatoes

Silky hummus served with harissa-roasted cauliflower and tangy pickled red onion

Main Courses:

South Indian coconut curry with mushrooms, sweet peppers, and cumin-scented rice

Moroccan vegetable tagine layered with halloumi and pearl couscous

Thai-inspired Panang tofu dry curry, garnished with cashews and served atop coconut rice
