British Airways is introducing a new direct route connecting London Heathrow to Tromsø, Norway, commencing 1st December. This marks Tromsø as the airline’s most northerly destination to date, and tickets are now available for reservation.
Tromsø stands out as a prime destination for witnessing the Northern Lights, thanks to its prime Arctic Circle position within the auroral zone. During our recent journey, we experienced average winter temperatures ranging from 0°C to -5°C, alongside frequent snowfalls—ideal for discerning travellers seeking exceptional skiing, snowshoeing, and Arctic wildlife encounters such as whale watching.
As a gateway to the Arctic, Tromsø is also celebrated for its festive ambience. The city’s iconic Christmas market, set in the heart of Stortorget Square, features Norway’s most enchanting holiday displays and a grand Christmas tree—perfect for those seeking authentic Scandinavian holiday traditions.
Roundtrip fares currently start from GBP153 (NOK 2,000), with twice-weekly service scheduled through 27th March 2025. Passengers may check ski or snowboard equipment as part of their standard baggage allowance, provided it measures no more than 190 x 75 x 65 cm.
