BA Celebrates the Year of the Dragon

In honor of the Lunar New Year, British Airways has elevated the travel experience with a suite of bespoke celebrations both on the ground and in the air. Beginning this week, travelers journeying between London and key Asian destinations—Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore—will discover thoughtfully crafted menus and cultural touches designed to celebrate prosperity and good fortune.

First Class guests are treated to an expertly prepared black pepper beef fillet, complemented by Chinese seven-spice broccolini, fusing contemporary British cuisine with authentic Eastern flavors. Club World (Business Class) travelers will savor a vibrant Kung Pao prawn, a dish inspired by the culinary heritage of the Chinese Imperial court. For dessert, both First and Club World passengers can indulge in a white chocolate tangerine mousse, a modern interpretation of a traditional symbol of wealth in Chinese culture.

Passengers in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) can enjoy the classic Huaiyang specialty, Lion’s Head meatballs—succulent pork steamed in oyster sauce—a comforting dish that embodies family unity and togetherness.

Throughout the festive period, those passing through London Heathrow Terminal 5 are greeted with traditional red envelopes filled with chocolate coins, while dynamic lion dance performances bring luck and joy to the terminal’s concourse.

On select flights to London, British Airways’ renowned customer service team will surprise a handful of travelers—particularly those born in the Year of the Dragon—with complimentary upgrades to Club World and exclusive lounge access, creating memorable journeys and celebrating individual stories.

The exclusive Lunar New Year menus are available on flights linking Singapore, Hong Kong, and London during the festival week, as well as on select services between London and Beijing or Shanghai. Special upgrade surprises await departing guests from Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore.Discover our in-depth review of British Airways Business Class
