British Airways will begin the next stage of the Business Class Club Suite retrofit program with the first of the carrier's 12 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners due to roll out the elevated product later this year.
The Club Suite was first introduced in 2019 on the airline's Airbus A350 – including a spacious converting full-flat seat with direct aisle access, a sliding privacy door, and ample work and storage space. The in-flight entertainment screen is a big step up in size and quality from the predecessor, and the suite's side shelf contains a practical remote — with a touchscreen display alongside an AC socket, two USB ports and a headphone jack. Other touches include luxury bedding from The White Company.
The Club Suites already feature on BA's newly delivered Airbus A350-100 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft, and the existing Boeing 777 fleet has been receiving a progressive retrofit of the latest Business Class product.
The newly configured 787-8 Business Class cabins will feature 31 Club Suites — down from 35 Business Class seats. In contrast, Premium Economy seat numbers will increase by 12 to 37, with an overall reduction in aircraft seat capacity from 214 to 204 across all classes.
The airline's Boeing 787-9s will be next in line to receive the cabin upgrades, with First Class seat numbers likely to remain at eight and a slight reduction in the existing Business Class seat numbers to accommodate 38 of the new Club Suites. Premium Economy numbers stay the same, with an overall drop in aircraft capacity of just one to 215 seats.
