American Airlines has debuted its state-of-the-art Admirals Club Lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), setting a new benchmark for premium airport hospitality in 2025.
Spanning an impressive 1,347 square meters—equivalent to the size of five tennis courts—this flagship lounge is now the largest at DCA, with seating for up to 236 travelers. Ambient lighting adjusts to the time of day, and advanced acoustic treatments create a serene escape from the busy terminal.
Design elements unique to Washington, D.C. are woven throughout: bespoke lampshades incorporate excerpts from President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address, while expansive murals showcase the city’s iconic monuments. Guests are welcomed by a grand stone entryway, leading to distinct spaces such as a dining area featuring chef-curated buffet stations, a sophisticated bar, and a lounge zone anchored by a statement fireplace surrounded by plush seating. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of the capital skyline, including glimpses of the Washington Monument. Carefully selected natural materials and intimate living-room settings evoke a sense of tranquility and warmth.
Premium amenities include elegant restrooms, eight private work pods, enclosed phone booths for confidential calls, and a dedicated family suite. A VIP enclave, designed as a tribute to the Library of Congress, is reserved for dignitaries and elite guests seeking discretion and exclusivity.
As the primary airline at DCA, American Airlines is expanding its lounge portfolio, with additional next-gen lounges scheduled for Austin, Denver, and Newark in the near future.
Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines has transitioned its Chicago operations to Terminal 5 at O’Hare International Airport, where it has launched a brand-new Sky Club lounge spanning 2,050 square meters and accommodating up to 400 guests.
The expansive lounge—now four times larger than its predecessor—features modern stone surfaces, custom-designed furnishings, and striking art installations by Chicago-based artists, reflecting the city’s cultural vibrancy. The atmosphere seamlessly blends luxury with comfort, creating a refined yet inviting environment for discerning travelers.
Guests are treated to two seasonal buffet stations offering globally inspired hot and cold selections, as well as a full-service bar. Notably, this O’Hare Sky Club is Delta’s first to introduce an exclusive wine bar, where guests can enjoy a curated list of premium vintages. Additional features include four private shower suites, secluded booths for business travelers, and a family-friendly lounge area.
Delta’s move to T5 streamlines the international travel experience, eliminating terminal changes and additional security checks for connecting passengers. Select international flights now benefit from direct boarding via private bridges from the lounge, providing an unmatched level of convenience.
Delta currently operates 40 daily peak departures from O’Hare to eight major US hubs, with plans to further expand frequency as travel demand continues to rise in 2025.
