American Airlines - new premium seats, dining and amenities

At the end of May - coinciding with the Memorial Day weekend - American Airlines will introduce a host of enhancements onboard more than three hundred international and transcontinental flights in its Flagship Business, Flagship First, and Premium Economy cabins. The airline says that its aim is to increase comfort, cut down on waste - bringing in reusable packaging for instance, boost style and ultimately, improve passenger satisfaction.

New Flagship Suites

American Airlines has already said that it will introduce a new Flagship Suite later this year - featuring - for the first time, privacy doors. Also, the first row of Business Class on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners  - and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft - will feature Flagship Suite Preferred. These seats will boast more space, the privacy doors, wireless charging and Bluetooth. Also, Nest Bedding mattresses, pyjamas and a skincare kit by Relevant and Joanna Vargas. These front row seats are rreminiscent of the JetBlue Mint Studio and Virgin Atlantic Retreat Suites.

Meanwhile, passengers in Premium Economy will also receive more storage, wireless charging, better connectivity and 4K screens. All fliers will benefit from high-speed Wi-Fi and over 1,500 entertainment options.

Fresh, colourful dining experiences!

Dining Experience: 

AA has announced new dining experiences  - both in the USA and on international flights - drawing inspiration from AA's diverse range of global destinations. 

For Business Class travellers departing from Europe, for instance, passengers can enjoy options including chili-marinated chicken or a delightful gnocchi duet. Meanwhile, those journeying in domestic Business Class can relish choices like shawarma-seasoned grilled chicken or chicken enchiladas. Additionally, new pre-order options, including short rib mac and cheese, add to the gourmet experience.

To complement these fresh offerings, a handpicked selection of award-winning wines will be available in premium cabins.

Thirteen Lune  - amenity kit

Amenity Kits & Bedding:

Premium cabin passengers will enjoy a rotating selection of brands in their amenity kits, with American Airlines refreshing them regularly based on customer feedback. These kits will include essential items including toothbrushes, earplugs, and sleep masks, alongside newly introduced, skincare products. To start - and for a limited time only - a specialty kit from Thirteen Lune will be offered - followed by the standard amenity kit for the summer season. Each kit will feature partner brands accessible via QR codes.

American Airlines is also dedicated to enhancing the in-flight sleep experience for its clientele. Introducing new bedding, pillows, and sleepwear tailored to optimise onboard rest.

Slippers & bedding

Dual-sided pillows will be provided in Flagship First and Flagship Business, offering both cooling-touch and traditional fabric options. Enhanced bedding choices, such as lumbar pillows, throw blankets, premium duvets, and fleece blankets, will be accessible across all cabins. 

Flagship First passengers on international flights will continue to receive pajamas, while Flagship Business passengers on all international flights will now receive slippers.

The majority of pillows, duvets, and blankets incorporate recycled fibres, maintaining quality while reducing environmental impact. Bedding will now be distributed in reusable zipper product bags crafted from recycled fibres, an initiative estimated to save approximately 25 tons of plastic waste annually.
