Mystery trips

Air New Zealand offers flights to secret destinations

The New Zealand airline is hoping that a sense of mystery will lure back travellers in these unusual times.

New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world that has managed to keep the Coronavirus out of its borders and return to the «new normal». However, while domestic travel has been allowed since June this year, the country's borders have remained closed to nearly all visitors.

In a move to encourage locals to more domestic travel, Air New Zealand hopes that the answer lies in their re-launched «mystery breaks» holiday package - a package in which passengers do not know where they are going until two days before departure.

Air New Zealand surprises travellers with their new offer.

In this package, travellers pay a fixed fee to book an entire holiday package, select a date and a place they do not want to visit - the rest is taken care of by the airline.

At present, the airline flies to 20 destinations across New Zealand, including Auckland and Gisborne on the North Island, and Timaru on the South Island.
