The new class features upgraded amenities, refined service, and premium ground privileges, positioning Air India as the first Indian airline to offer a true four-cabin configuration: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.
This exclusive Premium Economy service is currently available only on select US-bound flights operated by the Boeing 777-200LR, including nonstop routes from Bengaluru to San Francisco, Mumbai to San Francisco, and Mumbai to New York. Air India's CEO, Campbell Wilson, commented on this strategic move: “Premium Economy is increasingly favored worldwide, offering a balance between affordability and luxury that resonates with today’s global travelers.”
Designed for passengers willing to pay a moderate premium for upgraded comfort, Air India’s Premium Economy delivers an enhanced journey with spacious seating, improved amenities, and tailored services. Travelers benefit from expedited airport processing, dedicated check-in desks, priority baggage handling, and early boarding access.
The Premium Economy cabin on Air India’s Boeing 777-200LR showcases 48 ergonomically designed, leather-trimmed memory foam seats. These seats provide a generous 19-inch width (48 cm), a 38-inch pitch (97 cm), deep recline of up to 5 inches (13 cm), and adjustable leg and foot rests, along with contoured winged headrests. The ample legroom and thoughtful design ensure a restful environment—ideal for both productivity and relaxation on ultra-long-haul journeys.
Passengers receive a complimentary TUMI amenity kit custom-made for Air India and premium noise-cancelling headphones for the duration of the flight. The dining experience is elevated with a welcome beverage served on fine silverware, a curated menu card, and elegant chinaware. Guests may choose from three freshly prepared main courses, accompanied by an appetizer, dessert, and a curated selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
