At the World’s Best Wine Lists Awards 2019, Air France was once again named as having the Best Airline Wine List in the World, marking its second consecutive year receiving this prestigious accolade from the renowned British publication, The World of Fine Wine.
An expert panel of sommeliers, critics, and wine professionals praised Air France for its extensive variety and exemplary quality across all cabin classes. This recognition underscores Air France’s ongoing commitment to presenting the very best of French viticulture at altitude.
Setting the Benchmark for Onboard Wine Cellars
Air France’s reputation for its in-flight wine and spirits selection is well established, with the airline consistently earning accolades from leading industry bodies. At the Business Traveller’s Cellars in the Sky Awards 2018, the airline was lauded for the superior wines and Champagnes offered in its La Première suite. The Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006, served in La Première, was notably distinguished as the finest first class Champagne of the year.
Showcasing the Diversity of French Terroir
Air France refreshes its wine and Champagne offerings every two months, ensuring travelers can continually discover the breadth and depth of French wine regions. The airline’s wine program is curated by Paolo Basso, awarded World’s Best Sommelier in 2013, alongside esteemed wine critics Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane, co-authors of the respected bettane&desseauve French wine guide.
Each year, Air France pours approximately 800,000 bottles of wine in La Première and Business cabins, and 750,000 bottles of Champagne—making premium French wines accessible even in Economy. Every selection is meticulously tested to ensure that flavor profiles remain vibrant despite the dry air and pressurized cabin environment inherent to air travel.
Bringing the Air France Wine Experience Home
Since May 2019, Air France has extended its acclaimed wine program beyond the skies with the Air France Wine Cellar, allowing guests to order their favorite onboard wines, Champagnes, and spirits for delivery at home. Members also gain access to exclusive offers and invitations to private tastings, curated specifically for Air France clientele.
Through the Air France Connect digital platform, passengers can seamlessly purchase the same bottles enjoyed at 30,000 feet—either onboard or after landing—ensuring that the signature Air France gastronomic experience can be savored long after the journey concludes.
