Jag har fått förklaringen att det beror på deras rutiner för städning, att de inte har städpersonal tillgänglig på eftermiddagar och kvällar.
Told to me too over the years, but the labor availability is an issue that other hotels face too and yet deliver on late check-out benefits anyway. Malmo in particular has less a shortage of available labor to do cleaning work than a shortage of willingness to pay what it takes to get such work performed.

About the booking system change, some Strawberry hotels in Stockholm have put out signs saying things may go a little slower at check-in because of the new system.

Seems like the new system for now has somewhat increased the chances that when the hotel hasn’t collected payment at check-in then it is more likely that the front desk agents at check-out will also fail to collect payment at check-out when there is only the room rate payment due. This seems to be a result of how the front desk agents interact with the new system, so we had to remind the front desk agents that payment is due since it was neither collected at check-in nor by the time the front desk had said the guest was checked out.
