Grannen tittade förbi idag med en flaska från Stockholms bränneri. Samtalet och provsmakningen utvecklade sig till en smärre ginkavalkad.... Alltid trevligt!

Verkade f.ö. som att schweppes 1783 (deras premium mixer) bara kommer att finnas i lightversion, nämndes inget annat någonstans.

Bottled at 37.5% abv, Kopparberg Premium Gin is a London Dry style gin that has been double distilled over a two-week period.



The new gin, which has been infused with the same strawberry and lime flavour as its popular cider flavour, also features juniper, lemon zest and coriander botanicals.





“Not many know that we brew and distil many other drinks in our brewery in Sweden and with over 10 years’ experience in distilling gin, as well as our success as flavour leaders here in the UK and around the world, it was an obvious decision for us to introduce Kopparberg Premium Gin in one of our most iconic flavours.



“This focus on flavour, combined with our premium fruit refreshment positioning is what we feel will set us apart from other pink gins on the market.”



Priced at £22 (US$28.67) per 700ml, Kopparberg Premium Gin will launch exclusively in more than 700 Greene King pubs across the UK from 6 May.



It will be available to purchase in select UK retailers including Morrisons from 22 May and Asda on 10 June.

Det är nästan ofattbart vilka marknadsandelar Kopparbergs har lyckats kapa åt sig i Storbritannien, ett land (länder) som utgör nära 40% av världsmarknaden för cider. Detta också i områden där ciderkulturen är både stor och framförallt traditionell. Skulle inte förvåna mig om de lyckas bra med sitt Gin också. Gin som trängt undan annan starksprit och blivit den stora trenddrycken. Lyckas Kopparbergs få sitt gin på hyllorna till alla de barer/pubar där de säljer sin cider så blir det succé. Varenda Wetherspoon och Greene King säljer ju bryggeriets cider och man verkar inte ha låst sig till någon enda återförsäljare. Bara ett första steg i lanseringen kommer omfatta drygt 700 av Greene Kings över 3000 pubar. Aktien lär gå bra framöver.

Ja, Rekorderlig har gjort samma fina jobb. De båda ligger trea och fyra på marknaden i volym, efter Strongbow och Thatchers.



Han talar i nattmössan Tim Martin. Det enda han är intresserad av är att tjäna pengar på det och brittisk mousserande är självklart billigare än champagne. Om man får generalisera lite så är ju den typiske Wetherspoon kunden ute efter lägsta möjliga pris. Hur han får australiensiska och amerikanska produkter, som E&J och Black Bottle, till brittiska vet jag inte men det är så klart intressant om man kan erbjuda brittiska alternativ på tidigare importerade produkter. Frågan är bara om han tänker sälja brittiskt nötkött också. Eller fortsätter han importera lågpriskött från Afrika, Sydamerika och Irland(EU)? Det blir inte längre några biffar för £9.90 och mad cow lurar i bakgrunden. Över huvud taget lär han få svårt att få ihop sin typiska lågprismeny utan import, där den mesta av maten är influerad av andra matkulturer.
 
Med tanke på vad de häller på flaska och kallar cider ställer jag mig mycket skeptisk till detta.

There are three types of gin:



Gin

This is made by compounding ethyl alcohol with flavours, either artificial or natural. Gin can be coloured.



Distilled Gin

Production of distilled gin is usually in two parts. The first part is the re-distillation of

ethyl alcohol in the presence of natural flavours.

After the distillation, further flavours are added and they can be either natural or

artificial. Distilled gin can be coloured.



London Gin

This differs from the other gins in that all the flavouring must be part of the distillation

process and the flavouring can only be natural flavourings.

After the distillation, only ethyl alcohol, water and a tiny amount of sugar can be added to the distillate.

(The amount sugar added is so small that from an organoleptic standpoint it has no effect.

It is addedfor brand protection reasons)



• The production of all gins must ensure that the taste is predominantly

that of juniper berries (juniperus communis) and there is a common minimum strength of 37.5% abv.
