1. Xmas dekoreret Topkapi Lounge i Dakar med spændende, mad øl, og champagne.
2. Air Senegal betalte 1 ud af 2 nætter i Dakar. Udsigt til et brølende, men indbydende atlanterhav. Sandstorme fra Mauretanien gør tørken værre og noget deprimerende.
3. Hotellet La Virage ser måske trist ud udefra men fungerer fint. Gode vaerelser, masser af mad og softdrinks. Men ligger downtown - ca. 75 minutter fra lufthavnen...
4. Kenya Airways nye Champagne Cazanove var rigtig god, men kan naeppe imponere @Remington Steele...

Kenya Airways. Business 6/10
On 12-13 Jan. 2026, I flew three legs from Kigali to Dakar on a smaller Embraer 190 and a B737-800. Online Boarding Passes were not accepted in airport. However, check-in in Kigali is easy. I used the Pearl lounge, which is quite OK with hot dishes / snacks and a narrow portfolio of drinks. The lounge lacks windows and charm. Had a good shower there. The leg to Nairobi went well, nice new E190 in Skyteam livery. Flight full, thus 8 people upgraded to business. I got full attention and care onboard, special seafood accommodated, good red wine, lousy white wine. Champagne given as welcome drink – the brand was unknown to me, but good, Cazanove. In Nairobi, I stayed overnight in KQs Pride lounge, which is very fine and spacious with sleepers. The long-haul day flight from Nairobi offered wide recliner seats – nice, but useless for good sleep. My preordered meals were accommodated throughout despite ordered through KQs chatbot. Additional meals were offered onboard. Champagne was fine and sparkling, just as the flight attendants. Food and catering were generous as usual for this airline. It is a pity that they only serve a single, mediocre brand of beer without alternatives. A short stop-over in Ivory Coast was doable but prolonged the flight time by a couple of hours. The ticket was reasonably affordable; bought on promotion campaign in November. I may go back to Economy class if I have status, as the 600 USD added seems not fully justified. On the long haul I had 3 different kinds of fish meals of which at least one was truly ocean wild catch. Luggage allowance rendered me three pieces of checked-in luggage @ 32 kg. Business class in narrow body aircrafts do not render good value. Price tags are high compared to basic hardware offered. All FAs spoke 3-5 languages. No IFE, WiFi nor monitors were provided. Recommended; its a stable airline with very rarely any issues. Must say though, that their previous three flights to Dakar faced 3-5 hours delay all of them. For this flight, we arrived on time with all our luggage. I tend to stick to them due to the perks they render for Skyteam elite passengers.
Air Senegal. Economy 1/10
Flew 14th Jan. 2026 from Banjul to Dakar with Air Senegal. While linking to this flight coming from East Africa, they suddenly, with just 8 hours of notice, preponed the flight for 4 hours. I had no chance to reject or amend the change and despite arriving 4 hours early prior to the initial take off. They completely dismissed me and forced me to buy new ticket at triple price. Staff are preying on customers, don’t accept credit cards and charge 2-3 times more than the ticket states. Pure robbery. This was a nightmare, and the ticket they issued had many problems and forced me to stay around 30 hours in Senegal on what should just have been a transit. They rerouted and postponed endlessly. Inserted a route diversion to another city on the way, extending the travel time three times. No clarity. The distance is short (but cumbersome); however, I could have gone by car/bus up to 5 times instead of enduring this prolonged nightmare. Second time with this airline, very disappointing, not to recommend by any means, the reviews don’t lie. Likely better on long-haul, but I would still expect the worst. In continuation of the above review I have to add an additional section as the airline cancelled and rescheduled further. They provided a hotel downtown Dakar as “compensation” for the extra night spent. Coming to airport following morning resulted in facing cancelling and 12 hours wait and to exit transit to get updated Boarding Passes. Then, suddenly I was not in their system anymore: the purchased ticket from day 1 was de facto not truly issued. The revenue was likely pocketed (cash) by airline staff using my original cancelled ticket secretly. Which, I was told, was invalidated due to No Show, but now suddenly revoked upon intervention of airline airport manager. In total I spent 3 days in Dakar and lost important meetings in Banjul. The flight itself was good, on a newer B737, with lot of energetic staff from more than 6 countries. Water provided.
