Kommande förändringar inom United Mileage Plus fr o m 2017-NOV-01

United har publicerat att de kommer att ändra United Mileage Plus awardtabell fr o m 2017-NOV-01.
Det mesta handlar det om att Standard awards (som liknar SAS Best availability) till Everyday awards, vilket är dynamisk prissatt.

Men när man läser nogrannt så säger de att de kommer att ändra även Saver awards (som liknar SAS Best Price) fr o m 2017-NOV-01.

What’s changing

• For travel booked on or after November 1, 2017, we’ll no longer offer Standard Awards.
• Instead of Standard Awards, you’ll have the opportunity to book Everyday Awards, with pricing that will vary from flight to flight.
• We’ll publish an Everyday Award chart and pricing will not be higher than what’s published.
• We’re making some changes to the Saver Award chart, including:
  • Lower prices on most short-haul intra-region Economy Saver Awards for flights outside of the U.S., such as flights within Europe
  • Increased prices on Saver Awards for select international markets
  • Increased prices on United Business® Saver Awards for U.S. premium transcontinental routes and for select Hawaii routes
• There will now be a $125 redeposit fee for members who do not show up for their flight and request a redeposit of their miles. This fee will apply to all award bookings made on or after November 1, 2017 and will apply to all members.

Jag ser att ingen har diskuterat the Excursionist Perk hos United ännu. Det är ju i min förståelse en guldgruva med tanke på att deras tolkning av 1 zon är faktiskt enorma, t.ex. Europe, Central and Southern Africa, Oceania, South Asia.
Jag kan tänka mig att köra en bra open-jaw inom South Asia eller Europe.

Excursionist Perk
What is the Excursionist Perk and how do I take advantage of it?
The Excursionist Perk is a free one-way award within select multi-city itineraries. Members who book an itinerary with three or more one-way awards will be eligible to receive one of those one-way awards for free, if it meets all of these conditions:

• The Excursionist Perk cannot be in the MileagePlus defined region where your travel originates. (For example, if your journey begins in North America, you will only receive the Excursionist Perk if travel is within a region outside of North America.)
• Travel must end in the same MileagePlus defined region where travel originates.
• The origin and destination of the Excursionist Perk is within a single MileagePlus defined region.
• The cabin of service and award type of the free one-way award is the same or lower than the one-way award preceding it.
• If two or more one-way awards qualify for this benefit, only the first occurrence will be free.

How is the new Excursionist Perk different from the current stopover policy?
The Excursionist Perk is not defined by time, while the stopover policy is. For international itineraries, a break in the journey over 24 hours is considered a stopover; for domestic, the break must be over four hours. Additionally, the stopover policy is based on fare rules with region and routing restrictions that some customers found confusing.

We will also introduce new and enhanced multi-city booking capabilities, which will allow members to easily customize itineraries with multiple breaks on united.com, our mobile app or the Contact Centers.

För mig så är den Perken avhängigt av att ha tillräckligt många UA miles för att göra en 2-zons resa t/r i iaf Business och sen kunna lägga till en one-way då jag bara har ca 50k UA Miles så får jag nog leta vidare, alternativt nyttja dem i asien då HKG verkar tillhöra South Asia så 25k enkel i Business är rätt OK

Jag var ju en loyal adept av Eurobonus förut, men så har ju EB en nackdel, poängen går ut efter 5 år. Har man små barn t.ex. då kan det vara lite svårt at bränna dem i tid, förra året sammanlagt forlorade vi 54K Eurobonus poäng då vi hade ingen tid att resa för miles(annorlunda resmönster).
Problemet för mig med Star Alliance var att hitta ett program där man kan både förlänga giltighetstiden på miles och lätt utnyttja dessa. United var no brainer.

Jag och @Senator diskuterade om detta privat men jag la ner idén om att skriva guiden om detta för att det inte finns så många United Mileage Plus medlemmar på BC och de viktiga informationen om Excursion perk finns på FlyerTalk.

När det gäller att behålla giltigheten av miles samt lätt att utnyttja miles inom Star Alliance, tror jag att Avianca/TACA LifeMiles och United Mileage Plus är de två.

Eurobonus poäng expirerar ju inte längre för Diamond. Var ju dessutom tal om att de skulle införa detta för alla, men det var ju några år sedan det sades.
