I would also have been fine if at checkin they’d say we see that you are a Platinum member, and we’re sorry that we couldn’t upgrade you, can we offer you a drink/spa visit/other compensation? That’s quite easy loyalty recognition and building.How much time was there between when you originally booked the reservation and when you checked into that hotel on the reservation?
Due to the way some NCC/Strawberry hotels systematically handle upgrades and who is working (or not working) when and where, and due to some front desk employees’ expectations about what they think their colleagues or superiors have already done and how it may go over if revising things, there are some circumstances where the time in between when the reservation was made and the time of check-in seems to make a substantial diffefence with regard to upgrade outcomes.
