The Mercer

The Mercer is based within an ornate 1890 landmark Romanesque revival building in the heart of SoHo, a few minutes’ walk to Washington Square Park and Little Italy. Originally serving as offices for John Jacob Aster II, it was latterly used as artists’ lofts and studios before being converted to a hotel in 1997. Designed by Christian Liagre, The Mercer has cleverly kept that authentic loft living experience for many of its 74 guest rooms, which are spread out over six floors. There are three room types ranging in size from 25 – 33 square metres – the Courtyard, Mercer Room, Mercer Room Deluxe and all enjoy a signature clean lined, uncluttered style dressed in neutral colours with light filled from large windows letting the sun flood in. The next category up is the studio (Studio, Deluxe Studio and the Loft Studio), ranging in size from 33 – 47 square metres of living space with a minimalist aesthetic, some with exposed brick walls, others with arched windows or wood flooring, all offering sofas and tables with separate bathtubs and walk in showers. The final suite category of lofts and one and two bedroom suites  – Loft, Courtyard, Penthouse, Corner and Soho - has a wide range of accommodation options with interconnecting rooms making additional spaces and flexible furnishings and layouts that can be adapted. All enjoy high ceilings, some have fireplaces and open plan living, whilst others overlook a bamboo garden or have a Juliet balcony with a kitchenette. With room sizes ranging in size from 63 – 130 square metres, each enjoys a serene loft style environment, neutral tones complemented by a soft palette of springtime pastels with pops of bright yellow, hand knotted rugs, natural wood panelling, oak floorboards and huge marble bathrooms.

 When hunger bites, try the Lobby and room service menu from neighbouring restaurant Lure FishBar or enjoy the complimentary Continental Breakfast served until the property opens its own restaurant Sartiano’s in spring 2023. For exercise, the 24/7 gym is available by appointment for exercising in privacy, personal trainers can be booked on demand and local gym passes are available.
