A BusinessClass.com Verified Hotel
The Coleridge Boutique Hotel in the heart of Valletta is steeped in history. The building dates back to the early 1600s and was crafted by the finest European architects and engineers of the day. The early Baroque palace used to accommodate British poet Samual Taylor Coleridge who wrote extensively about his time on the island. On a traditional narrow Valletta street hung with characteristic balconies, The Coleridge is suitably traditional with a particularly British flavour appropriate to the hotel's name. The reception desk is in the racing-green front hall beneath prints of horses.
The owners decorated themselves, selecting each piece of antique furniture and bringing much of it from the UK. The six rooms are named after Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous poems. All are furnished with Large Super King size beds, wardrobes and gilt-framed mirrors. Two have balconies overlooking the street and all have contemporary designer bathrooms. Environmentally conscious, there’s an eco-sensitive approach reflected in the choice of water-based paint, woodwork restoration, rainwater collection, locally-sourced ingredients, eco-certified cleaning materials and the use of certified-ethical down pillows.
