Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg

Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg enjoys an enviable location in the eighth arrondissement, equally close to historic Paris with the Place de la Concorde, the Jardins des Tuileries and Le Louvre and to the fashion boutiques, shops and department stores in and around Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. Once the home of France’s Marie Claire magazine, it might come as no surprise therefore that the interior designer, Didier Gomez, has given the hotel, housed within two elegant 18th and 19th century townhouses, a distinct haute couture appeal. There are 148 rooms and suites ranging in size from 20 square metres for the Superior up to 30 square metres for the premium luxury room and these have been given Gomez’s stamp with a glamorous, timeless feel mixing a light seascape colour palette and sumptuous fabrics with large black and white images, retro mirrors and just a touch of crystal. Toiletries of course are by Balmain, naturellement. Moving up to the suites, the colour schemes are more individual, ranging from the 35 square metre Junior Suite overlooking the garden, to the über cool 40 square metre Collection Suite with modern and antique pieces mixed together. The two bedroom 66 square metre Faubourg Site enjoys a vintage appeal with its oversized black and white Cecil Beaton fashion imagery and the same seaside colours mixed with gold and yellow to great effect. 

The 100 square metre Couture Apartment up in the eaves of the hotel has a more monochrome palette and a distinctly modern style with facilities including a large Master Suite and living room, a Hammam, Jacuzzi, dining room, home cinema and office – with captivating views out over the city. For relaxation, there is a small fitness centre with TechnoGym equipment and a wellbeing centre with an Experience steam room, male and female Hammams and a selection of massages and beauty treatments using Cinq Mondes products. When hunger rears its head, there are various solutions to hand including Blossom with a nature themed décor extending out onto a pretty landscaped patio (The Blossom Garden) with a healthy, gastronomic French cuisine menu with ingredients carefully sourced and mainly from France with all fruit and vegetables used being organically grown. There is also The Library, a comfortable wood lined space with books, game tables and a relaxing atmosphere offering a light bites menu alongside champagne, wine and fresh drinks. Le Bar du Faubourg meanwhile is a fashionista’s dream, mixing leather wing back chairs with antique sofas and black and white fashion photos hung beside the fireplace over wood panelled walls, serving a light menu throughout the day and tapas in the evening. For those who like to see and be seen, there is also the Faubourg Terraces at the front of the hotel.
