The New York EDITION

A BusinessClass.com Verified Hotel

The New York EDITION is located within a 41-story 1909 gothic-style building inspired by the Campanile in Venice. Often referred to as the clock tower, it was formerly the landmark Metropolitan Life Tower, now re-imagined by legendary hotelier Ian Schraeger. Overlooking Madison Square Park, it sits within the Flatiron neighbourhood, named for the iconic Flatiron building, and is close to Union Square, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, NOMad and Gramercy Park. Attractions such as the Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal and The Morgan Library & Museum are close at hand. The property today houses 271 pared back contemporary guest rooms and suites – all with a neutral colour palette complemented with dark wooden accents like the walnut headboards for the beds and the coffee tables. All feature sleek natural stone bathrooms with Le Labo bath amenities in the signature EDITION scent, large windows, oak floors, custom furnishings and wood panelled foyers to give the impression of a private residence. Room sizes range from 20 – 27 square metres for the entry level Guest Room up to 35 – 41 square metres for the open plan Loft. When it comes to the suites, there are six categories ranging in size from 53 square metres for the Loft Suite, 86 square metres for the two Flatiron Suites and 125 square metres for the three beautifully styled Penthouse Suites with their vaulted ceilings, separate bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and kitchenettes, offering stunning 180 degree views over the Flatiron Building, Madison Square Park and the Empire State Building. If you want to travel tech light, the property can offer you iPads, laptops and mobile phones during your stay.

For relaxation, spa services can be booked at urban spa exclusively for hotel guests and there is a 24/7 fitness centre complete with Peloton bikes. When you are feeling peckish, head to The Clock Tower where framed historic images of celebrities and wood panelling in three unique dining rooms are mixed with modern furnishings to great effect and menus with a British touch. Attached to the restaurant is The Bar at the Clocktower, with a similar design stamp, albeit with a 24k gold left curved bar, a fibreglass globe chandelier overhead and carved plaster ceilings, ideal for sipping craft cocktails. The Lobby Bar meanwhile is another skillfully designed contemporary space for relaxing over small plates and bespoke seasonal cocktails.
