La Tremoille Paris

La Trémoille, one of Paris’ best-known traditional hotels, is housed behind a 19th century Haussmanian façade, restored in 2002 to its original splendour and since that time, has proudly sported resplendent wrought iron balconies, topped by deep blue awnings, with green, draped planting on the lower two floors. Located on a quiet street in the eighth arrondissement, in the heart of Paris’ “Golden Triangle” of the Champs-Elysées, Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V the hotel is close to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower as well as the Musée Yves Saint Laurent and La Galerie Dior for lovers of fashion.  Originally built as a grand private residence, (the central grand staircase remaining to give a hint of what it must once have looked like), the building became a hotel in 1923 and during the 1960s, became a home away from home for both Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, both of whom are remembered with old black and white photographic portraits. There are 93 rooms and suites here, all featuring a rather unique touch - a private “hatch” compartment linking the room to the hotel corridor enabling laundry and room service to be delivered directly inside. Rooms enjoy high ceilings, large windows, marble bathrooms and a curtained backdrop to the bed, becoming the centrepiece of each room. Colours are subtle and rooms are not overfilled with detail, having more of a 1930’s clean lined feel which complements the original features and range in size from 31 to 104 square metres. 

The suites are located on the upper floors with both dining and living areas as well as furnished balconies so you can eat your breakfast whilst listening to the heartbeat of the city. For relaxation, there is a spa with a state-of-the-art fitness room, a relaxing sauna and invigorating jet showers with facial and body treatments available in collaboration with partner ZEAL Cosmetics and undertaken in either a treatment room or in-room. At the time of writing, the restaurant and bar were currently under renovation and closed, meals provided via room service.
