Hôtel de Berri Champs-Elysées is located close to the Champs-Elysées, the wide avenue that links the Arc de Triomphe with the Place de la Concorde – the fashionable and the historic. Sited on what was once royal nurseries, then mansions for the powerful including Elsa Schiaperelli, the legendary fashion icon who resided in an apartment here, the current glass fronted building dates from the 1970’s and overlooks its own private park awash with lush of greenery and trees. It is evident from the dramatic lobby that this is something a little different here with differing marbles covering the wall; chunky columns; an ornate fireplace; a trompe l’oeil black and white chequerboard floor; classic friezes adorning the reception desk and brightly coloured abstract and leopard skin fabrics adorning the seating area; artworks scattered about with coffee table tomes close to hand. Celebrating the arts with a passion, the black and white sculpture room (a comfortable lounge) is full of reproductions of classic statuary from Le Louvre, with artworks scattered throughout the property and references are made to the fashion greats as well.
With an eclectic style all of its own, Hôtel de Berri Champs-Elysées offers 40 individually decorated guest rooms and 35 suites, designed by Philippe Renaud, with every part of the room carefully considered from the eye-catching wallpapers and colour palettes to the floor coverings, the fabrics, to the furnishings and the artwork. High ceilings, large windows, marble fireplaces, mood lighting and more, guest room sizes range from 22 to 36 square metres to a more generous 55 to 115 square metres for the suites including 35 rooms enjoying a Park View. Bedside interactive digital controls, Netflix access, lights and curtains controlled by a tablet, heated flooring in marble bathrooms, Skinjay aromatherapy products and Sothys amenities are just some of the highlighted features of any stay. The largest suite – The Parisian - has been inspired by former inhabitant Elsa and enjoys a large skylight of sky and foliage letting the sunlight blaze through. A modern four poster, partially curtained with an overhead canopy, mixes with period chaises and modern furniture overlooking greenery. For dining, head to Le Schiap named in homage to Elsa and featuring a wraparound mural by artist-illustrator Hippolyte Romain, contrasting well with the vivid emerald green velvet dining chairs. Offering a modern French menu with seasonal products carefully sourced, it is complemented by a curated wine list of quality. Le Bizazz Bar offers a comfortable setting with a sculptural frieze running in front of the bar, studded velvet armchairs made for relaxing and a bank of windows overlooking the garden. With a selection of teas throughout the day turning to innovative cocktails and wine as day turns into night, from Wednesday to Saturdays, Le Bizazz turns into a piano bar. When it all becomes too much, head to the Hôtel de Berri Spa for relaxing and rejuvenation with two Carita treatments rooms, a tropical shower, two Hammams and two separate lounges for men and women. For those who like to work out, there is also a 24/7 Fitness Centre.
