Hotel Lutetia - The Leading Hotels of the World

A BusinessClass.com Verified Hotel

Lutetia Paris stands as a 1910 landmark property on the Rive Gauche with its Art Nouveau façade, originally built to house the high-end clientele for the adjacent Bon Marché department store. Now housing 184 rooms including eight signature suites and one of Paris’ Palace hotels and the only Grand hotel on the Left Bank, the property was fully restored by leading architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte over a four-year period, bringing in a team of craftsmen from across the world to restore paintings, stained glass, frescoes, mosaics and more, reopening in 2018. The styling of the accommodation is classically contemporary, dressed in soothing muted tones with tinted oak flooring, Murano glass wall lights and custom furnishings with stunning Carrara marble bathrooms. Some even have fluted wooden wall panelling too with many enjoying balconies overlooking the Eiffel Tower and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The sizes of the accommodation ranges from the 33 square metre Grand Superior Room to 52 square metres for the Lutetia Suite to the grandest signature suite, The Presidential Carré Rive Gauche Suite with Terrace at a respectable 169 square metres of indoor and outdoor living space, beautifully designed with the collaboration of an alliance of art dealers from the area. All the suites have their own character including the Joséphine Baker Suite with a giant ceiling mural of the Jazz Age icon, the Suite Parisienne by Isabelle Huppert with the furnishings inspired by the French actress and the Saint Germain Penthouse by Coppola which features unique pieces from noted director Francis Ford Coppola. The charm of the Eiffel Penthouse is immediately evident as it follows the curves and arches of the top of the hotel and includes a 74 square metre terrace reached by a marble staircase.

When it comes to gastronomy, head to the Brasserie Lutetia for a menu of local dishes and modern surprises by Patrick Charvet; to Le Saint-Germain for casual snacks and afternoon tea throughout the day bathed by the multi-coloured light of the room’s glass ceiling; to the floor vaulted floor to ceiling muralled Bar Joséphine with a bar menu inspired by former guest Mlle. Baker and the Bar Aristide, named in honour of Le Bon Marché’s founder, Aristide Boucicaut with the feel and style of a private member’s club with a soundtrack of soulful electro jazz with a live DJ set every Thursday. For relaxation and a reviving swim, head to the Akasha Spa with its six luxurious treatment rooms and Hammam; a 17-metre lap pool, sauna and Jacuzzi and a 100 square metre gym with a wide range of one on one or group classes from yoga to boxing and cardio.
