Esprit Saint Germain

A BusinessClass.com Verified Hotel

Esprit Saint Germain on Paris’ Left Bank feels more like a private Parisian home than a boutique hotel. Located on the elegant Rue Saint Sulpice, between the Luxembourg Gardens and Boulevard Saint Germain in the sixth arrondissement, neighbours include an array of boutiques, art galleries, cafes and restaurants, the latter particularly useful given the property does not have its own restaurant. Also close to Paris’ oldest department store, Le Bon Marché, the city’s main attractions such as the Musée Eugène Delacroix, Le Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay and the fascinating Musée Rodin are all within easy striding distance. There are just 28 recently renovated rooms, suites and apartments – all offering a clean lined chic, some with terraces overlooking Parisian rooftops, others featuring authentic 18th century beams to add that touch of Je ne Sais Quoi to the décor. With a contemporary style, muted grey tones, luxurious materials used – leather, woods, fabrics – rooms immediately feel comfortable and welcoming with curated artworks on display. The entry level rooms are cosy and stylish, with an 18 square metre footprint and are packed with all the normal toys – Nespresso coffee machines, Dyptique toiletries, etc – together with a refreshing tray of fruits. The Penthouse Suite Club with private terrace is the premium room here located on the top floor with French doors leading out onto a terrace with views of the Saint Sulpice Church, perfect for taking breakfast in the morning or for a coupe de champagne before a night out on the town. Offering 47 square metres of space, the bathrooms are in the eaves with even those difficult angled joints covered in marble.

Packed with all the normal toys – Nespresso coffee machines, Dyptique toiletries, etc – the suites are light filled spaces with large walk in closets with the Suites Club perfect for two couples sharing. The property’s one- or two-bedroom apartments are more like a pièd à terre, including mini kitchenettes, allowing those who know Paris well, the opportunity to live like a local. Breakfast is served in The Library Lounge, a peaceful space surrounded by bookcases as one might expect with a second lounge, The Fireplace Lounge, perfect for relaxing during the day or having a coffee, a coupe de champagne or a glass of wine. Butlers are on hand to help with any whim, families are welcomed with a number of interconnecting rooms available and the concierge desk can easily recommend a number of restaurants in the close proximity. They have even managed to squeeze in an intimate fitness room, Hammam and Sauna which if requested in advance, can be yours to enjoy on your own, with massages or private fitness coaches on demand.
