11 Howard

A BusinessClass.com Verified Hotel

11 Howard is based in the heart of SoHo overlooking Howard Street, a little touch of minimalism Scandinavian-style in the heart of New York and an ethos which showcases a conscious hyper-localism. With a contemporary interior design by Space Copenhagen, expect light oak floors, custom furnishings and high ceilings with bamboo rugs, pale pink bed throws, ceramic artwork by Katie Yang and bathrooms finished in marble and brass with organic bath amenities from Grown Alchemist for each of the 207 rooms and suites. The mini bars feature products from Conscious Commerce and Thrive Market, one of their partners, whilst room service can be ordered in a trice via an in-room tablet. There are nine types of guest room starting with the cosy Howard Queen with the more interesting Terrace King allowing a breath of fresh air through French windows onto a patio on the 12th floor and the Corner Studio offering five dual aspect windows allowing both the light to flood in and two viewing vistas – one uptown, the other downtown. There are two types of suites here – The Howard and The Terrace Suite with the former offering those magnificent views and 60 square metres of living space and the latter, a large furnished balcony with expansive views, a full kitchen, a dining room for up to eight and a working area – all housed within a generous 176 square metres of space.

When it comes to wining and dining, head for lunch and dinner to Le Coucou, a bright elegant loft-style venue serving a classic French menu accompanied by a wide ranging wine list in a collaboration between acclaimed restaurateur Stephen Starr and chef/restaurateur Daniel Rose. For a less formal bite to eat, the all-day dining Library is just the ticket – a convivial multipurpose space, perfect for work, rest and play from early morning to the late evening, decorated with the work of Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto. A third space, The Blond, offers a similar vibe but in a more sophisticated setting with dark woods, subdued colours and low lighting and a light bites menu courtesy of Chef Rose. When evening comes, nightly DJs spin the decks and reservations may be needed to ensure guaranteed entrance. For euphoric relaxation and detoxing, HigherDOSE offers an infrared sauna and lymphatic drainage within a jungle inspired room on the hotel’s third floor.
