Earlier this week, Singapore Airlines took delivery of its first Boeing 787-10. The Dreamliner is due to enter service next month with a brand new business class product on board.

The new arrival marks the start of Singapore Airlines’ rolling revamp of its regional fleet, which will also include new Airbus A350 aircraft when they are delivered later this year.

The revamped regional fleet is set to feature a brand new business class product, as reported by Australian Business Traveller. Both aircraft will feature two classes (business and economy), with the new business class cabin arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. Additionally, the new business class seats will recline into fully-flat beds.

The new 787-10 products will be unveiled at an arrival ceremony in Singapore on tomorrow (28 March 2018).

Singapore Airlines’ 787-10s will be used for flights up to eight hours, the airline has said. Osaka and Perth are the first scheduled destinations to be served by the new aircraft, from May 2018. Before this, the aircraft will be operated on selected flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for crew training purposes.

Constructed using lightweight composite materials, the 68-metre 787-10 is the longest variant of Boeing’s Dreamliner range of aircraft. It is designed to offer a more pleasant cabin experience with customisable lighting, large electronically dimmable windows, and cleaner air, and a quieter and smoother ride.

SIA is the largest customer for the 787-10. And as low-cost subsidiary Scoot is already an operator of both 787-8s and 787-9s, Singapore Airlines the first airline group in the world to operate all three variants of the Boeing Dreamliner family.
