Jeg rejste netop tilbage til Rwanda efter juleferie. 6 ben, alt i biz undtagen FRA-ADD benet. Første gang i "business" med de forkætrede Vietjetair. Lidt sjovt for en stund at være konge i de blindes rige...Som helhed gik alt fint selv om jeg var lidt træt ved ankomst. Jeg maa sige at B737 ikke er toppen. Fra nu af søger jeg at fravælge narrowbodies undtagen A321 som jeg befinder mig godt i. Alle indtjente miles er allerede krediterede til hvs. TK og ET FFP-er. Alt gengivet paa SKYTRAX (undtagen lounge-besoeget i Le Saigonnais i SGN)

1. Vietjetair Business 7/10
Flew HUI-SGN on 2 Jan. 2018 on an A320. First time for me in their SKYBOSS “business class”. The price is 2-3 times higher as cattle class but includes lounge, 30 kg luggage, lots of hand-luggage, priority seats and gating, and free ticket changes. It was a late evening flight, which endured one of many reschedulings which are symptomatic for Vietjetair. This postponement was announced by three identical emails sent to me a week in advance. Still, we left an hour late, which is, according to flightradar.com, the normal situation for this VJ315 (daily) midnight flight: only 74% of the flights are on time (according to their displayed statistics). The last 2 weeks all of this flight have been delayed every day with 1-3 hours. For me, a minor delay was fine as I had to wait 1-2 hours anyway in SGN to be able to check in for next flight which leaves 5-6 hours later than VJ scheduled arrival time. Check-in opened 2 hours before departure and took me only 2-3 Minutes to get my BP. Lounge granted in Phu Bai Airport is very plain and understocked. However, they are kind and kept the lounge open only for me as I was the sole eligible visitor at these midnight hours. They even extended opening hours another 1 hour to cope with the 50 Minutes delay of my flight, VJ315. Onboard, I was given seat 1C and no-one was seated next to me. Got two choices of hot food and was provided drinks and towel. Food arrived with 2 Minutes after ordering (yes!). Fresh interior in cabin and energetic, young staff. Busgating in both ends with separate luxury mini-van just for me as the only SKYBOSS passenger went very quick with nil waiting time. My baggage arrived as the first one – it was nicely decorated with priority tags in sparkling colours. Product hardly worth the triple price of a discounted economy, but an interesting adventure with “full on board services”. Got some feel of excellency and I was respected which is truly felt as it is unusual when travelling with LCCs (low cost carriers). The SKYBOSS is NOT business class but it is a good try. Will fly with them again when I have amble transit time.

2. Le Saigonnais Business Lounge 08/10
Visited on 3rd January 2019 in the middle of night prior embarking Air China to Peking departing 05:40. Newly opened 3rd Part Lounge (run by SASCO) in SGN Saigon International Terminal, T2. Opened only for a month and a bit hard to find as the signboards are not updated. Nice decor, inspirational, clean and good stocking of hot foods – found about 7 different kinds. Drinks offered are mainly local. No champagne or sparkling but 4 red-wines present of which only one is drinkable (ex. Chile). 3 brands local beers and loads of soft drinks. This is a better and bigger than the Rose lounge hitherto offered. A nice surprise with OK facilities, showers, and superfast WiFi, and nice tarmac views overlooking the aircrafts.

3. Air China Business 08/10
SGN-FRA via Beijing on 3rd January 2019 on a small B737 and then on a large aircraft B777-300ER for the last leg. Check-in in Saigon smooth, they checked my luggage in the whole way for 4 sectors ahead where the last 2 legs were on another ticket with Ethiopian. Both flights on time despite they were both completely full. In SGN they now use the new Saigonnais 3rd party lounge which is wonderful and inspirational, just opened a month ago. In Beijing I used their First Class lounge. Transitting in Beijing is not fun, they fragment all items in handluggage. First flight was eventless and a bit cramped as one can’t stretch out legs in the first row due to bulkhead. Welcome champagne offered. Food is dull and only passable. They had good teas, coffee, and 3 brands of beers onboard. 2nd flight to Germany was on the huge B777. They took the trouble to call, find, help, and wait for me as I was mistaken on local time while in the lounge. After CA-staff found me, they assisted me by running together with me and my handluggage to enable me to board on the waiting flight even the doors were already closed. Had seat 15H and things went well. Food and drinks were both very good to my taste – and options were well informed through comprehensive Food and Drink Menu cards. Amenity kit. Good intertainment and earphones. Full flight, hard working staff. Call bells answered within seconds. They ran out of beers and icecream before landing. Disembarking smooth and quick.

4. Ethiopian Economy 7/10
Travelled from FRA to KGL via ADD and BJM on 3-4 January 2019 on A350-900 for the first time – and 737 on the regional flights. Check-in in FRA was not easy, neither on line nor in Airport and I got a bad seat in the middle of a middle section 1 row away from the rear toilets – sat in 46 F. However, they granted me space of two seats as 1 passenger did not show up. Flight full and almost on time. In Addis, busgating from remote stand took >50 Minutes to disembark the aircraft as they only provided disembarking from a single door in front. Furthermore, they provided only a single bus at a time for 300+ passengers. In FRA they failed to print out my second BP, this often happens with ET and is very annoying as one has to queue up again in Addis to get the second. In ADD, I went to Cloud Nine Lounge though I am at present ineligible without elite status and on economy ticket. However, the lounge reception were kind and let me in meanwhile they upgraded from economy to business for 15,000 miles for next leg to KGL over BJM. Cloud Nine Lounge was nice, X-mas decorations and only half full. The last trip became much more pleasurable and peaceful than the first one though on a much smaller, modest aircraft. Departure champagne given. Luggage arrived perfectly after having traveled 6 legs prior to final destination.
