Dynamiska priser på Lufthansa Group Awards + Ändrade poängtabeller (from 2025-06-03)

Dear Mr. Holmén,

The miles you’ve earned can help you make your travel dreams come true. That’s also why our Award Flights are so popular. For bookings from 3 June 2025, you can look forward to changes that will give you more flexible fare options.

For flights with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS, the fixed mileage amounts in the Award Flight chart will be replaced with flexible mileage amounts. The miles will then be calculated on the basis of the fare you choose, travel class, route, the timing of your flight and when you book – exactly the same as when you book flights through the airlines.

These changes may lead to greater availability on some routes. You’ll also benefit from particularly low mileage amounts for Economy Class on some routes. On the other hand, you may need higher mileage amounts on certain routes that are in high demand.

In future, you’ll be able to decide whether you want your Award Flight booking to include baggage, a seat reservation or the option to rebook. You’ll be able to see all available options along with the relevant mileage amount as soon as you make a booking request.

For Brussels Airlines, Eurowings and all other Miles & More airline partners, the Award Flight chart (with updated mileage amounts) will continue to apply.

Såg detta också. Indirekt så ökar det ju värdet på status i M&M då jag tolkar det som att man kommer att kunna göra reducerad awardbokning utan reservation och baggage då detta ändå hängs på via SEN/HON.

Status benefits

For bookings from 3 June 2025, your status benefits as a frequent flyer will depend on the fare you choose for your Award Flight as well as the terms and conditions on which the airline fares are based.

Changes to Award Flights for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS

Variable mileage amounts instead of a fixed Award Flight chart

For Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS, the mileage amounts for flight bookings from 3 June 2025 will no longer be determined by a fixed chart, but will instead be based on the ticket price set by the airline. Miles will then be calculated on the basis of the fare you choose, travel class, route, the timing of your flight and when you book.

More fare options

The changes mean you’ll also be able to choose between Light, Classic and Flex fares for flights within Europe and Light, Basic, Basic Plus and Flex fares for intercontinental flights. Depending on the fare, you’ll be offered various baggage and seating options. Different rules and fees for cancellations and rebookings will also apply. You’ll then be able to tailor your Award Flights to your travel needs more flexibly.

For bookings from 3 June 2025, your status benefits as a frequent flyer will depend on the Award Flight fare as well as the terms and conditions on which the airline fares are based.

Mileage amounts and availability

These changes may lead to greater availability on some routes. You’ll also benefit from particularly low mileage amounts for Economy Class on some routes. On the other hand, you may need higher mileage amounts on certain routes that are in high demand.

Further simplifications

We’ll also be simplifying the way we structure our offer. Products like Flex Plus and mileage bargains will no longer be available for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS. Of course, we’re working hard to continually expand our offerings and make them more attractive for you.

For the time being, it will not be possible to redeem miles for taxes, fees and airline surcharges with any airlines.

Changes to the Award Flight chart

The Award Flight chart will continue to determine the mileage amounts for Star Alliance and Miles & More airline partners (except for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS). For bookings from 3 June 2025, we’ll be adjusting the mileage amounts in line with current prices for the first time since 2019.

Updating the chart means we’ll be able to offer you lower and more attractive mileage amounts on some routes in Economy Class. It also means that on certain routes, in the higher travel classes in particular, the mileage amounts will be higher.

The most important changes

Economy Class

In future, you’ll need fewer miles in Economy Class within Europe and up to 10,000 miles less for Award Flights on many long-haul routes. A slight increase in mileage amounts will only apply to flights to the Middle East, North and Central Africa, the Caucasus, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Premium Economy Class

In Central America, the Caribbean, South America, North and Central Africa, the Middle East and the Caucasus, mileage amounts will remain the same in Premium Economy Class. For other regions, you’ll need 5,000 miles more for an Award Flight.

Business Class

On European routes, mileage amounts will remain the same in Business Class. Outside Europe, the amounts will increase depending on the destination and distance. For example, the mileage amounts for flights to the Middle East and Africa will only increase slightly by 5,000 miles, while you may need significantly more miles for longer routes, such as flights to South East Asia.

First Class

First Class Award Flights are exclusive offers that are only available with a few airline partners. Due to the exclusive nature of these offers, you’ll need to redeem more miles.

World Award Flight and 3-region Award Flight

The mileage amounts for World Award Flight and 3-region Award Flight bookings will depend on the booking class. You can find the exact amounts in the Award Flight chart valid from 3 June 2025.

With these changes, we’re taking further steps towards a new world of Award Flights. We’re also constantly working on additional features to enhance your booking experience.

We look forward to supporting you with all your travel plans in future, too.

Key impacts:

  • No more “Mileage Bargains” for dynamically priced airlines (Austrian, City Airlines, Lufthansa, and Swiss). Instead, irregular sales will be introduced, sometimes aligned with cash ticket sales.
  • International redemption pricing may not be cheaper than from Germany, despite logic suggesting otherwise.
  • One-way tickets will still cost half of a round-trip, which contradicts the supposed logic behind dynamic pricing.
  • Taxes and surcharges remain high and will match those of paid tickets. Miles&More will calculate the required mileage as the cash ticket price minus surcharges, multiplied by an undisclosed factor.
