Cathay Pacific is to launch brand new first class suites and regional business class seats over the next three years, reports Australian Business Traveller.

The new products are expected to debut on new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, namely the Airbus A321neo and Boeing 777-9 .

Despite revealing these intentions in an interview with Australian Business Traveller, Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s Head of Customer Experience & Design did not disclose any further details of the new premium products.

The Chinese airline and Oneworld member also recently unveiled its new lounge at Hong Kong. The Deck is located near to gate 16 in Terminal 1, in place of the airline’s previous Dragonair lounge.

Next on Cathay’s agenda will be a new regional business class seat. This will debut on the Airbus A321neo aircraft, which will operate under Cathay’s regional subsidiary Cathay Dragon, formerly known as Dragonair.

Cathay Dragon is purchasing 32 of the fuel-efficient neo jets. They will be delivered between 2020 to 2023 and will feature an all-new business class seat. Although the design is in its infancy, we can expect the new seat to be a recliner rather than a fully lie-flat seat, according to Lo.

Following the launch of new regional business class seats, new first class suites will be introduced on the airline’s new Boeing 777-9s. These high-tech jets will become the airline’s flagship when delivery starts in 2021.

It is not yet decided whether the suites will be enclosed with sliding doors or stick with the ‘open suite’ design of its current Boeing 777-300ER first class cabin. Lo told Australian Business Traveller that both options were being explored.
