Boeing has unveiled its brand new standard business class seat.

Developed alongside automotive seat maker Adient, the lie-flat seat will be offered to airlines purchasing its 777 or 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The off-the-shelf seat will be available for retrofit upgrades as well as factory-fresh aircraft.

Along with converting into a lie-flat bed, the middle seats (of a row of four) can be configured into a comfy double bed.

Adient and Boeing will be showcasing this seat to potential customers at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany, later this week. The seat is part of a portfolio of jointly developed lie-flat business class seat prototypes from Adient and Boeing’ joint venture, Adient Aerospace.

“It will be our goal to provide a superior customer and passenger experience by delivering superior quality seats with intelligent product design,” said Alan Wittman, nominated CEO of Adient Aerospace.

“In addition to expanding seating choices and adding manufacturing capacity to address broader commercial airplane industry needs, we are focusing on comfort, craftsmanship and operational excellence to differentiate our future products and services,” Wittman continued.

Not many details of the new seat have been released. Although we can see from the picture that seat has plenty of room for storage and even perhaps a wireless charging port next to the armrest.

The seat may also have sliding privacy doors similar to Qatar Airways’ Qsuite.
