Luxury hotel group Belmond has confirmed that its Chelsea property The Cadogan will reopen towards the end of the year.
Belmond will reopen the historic Belmond Cadogan Hotel, located on Sloane Street, after a multi-million-dollar refurbishment project to preserve the unique heritage of the Queen Anne Style property, which dates back to 1887
Belmond says that the upgrade will see the hotel become a new world-class retreat embracing quiet luxury.
Interior design by GA Design International draws inspiration from the hotel’s original features and rich history and heritage – from Sir Hans Sloane, to Kings of England, artists and writers and the scandalous stories of Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry.
With just 54 rooms (down from 64), Belmond says the hotel will be intimate, yet warm and welcoming in the heart of the city. Guests will have access to a private garden offering a tranquil escape in Spring and Summer. During winter the welcoming draw of the fireplaces throughout the hotel will provide a warm embrace.
The iconic hotel had originally been due to reopen in 2016.
The relaunch of The Cadogan is one of several Belmond openings planned this year. Other notable properties include the revamped Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada in Mexico and the Belmond Cap Juluca in Anguilla.
