Havde en god tur over 2 dage. Bedste kaffe var i The Bridge loungen i Hong Kong. Bedste morgenmad var kinesisk, serveret mellem HKG og SGN. Bedste øl ombord var Henninger (tysk øl produceret i Jordan på licens), som Royal Jordanian serverer sammen med deres elskede Amstel.
1. Royal Jordanian Economy 5/10
Copenhagen to Amman and Dubai 18 Aug. 2019 on A320 and A321, respectively. Check In in CPH a breeze though the attendant was junior. Got my luggage tagged for next 4 legs on my journey. They also issued 4 Boarding Passes on the spot even the last 2 sectors was on another airline and on another ticket. Well done, though it took some time. Lounge used in CPH is a 3rd party lounge, the new Carlsberg Aviator Lounge, a crowded experience but somehow acceptable though only cold foods (smoerrebroed) from buffet. Lounge in Amman fits me well, open big space and long, open views to terminal and outside, just separated by an elevated glass fender. Food onboard substandard, only a cold sandwich was served (on both legs). Not enough food and food quality very low. Personally I ordered Special Seafood Meal which was delivered on both legs. However, it was just a cold sandwich with some canned tuna fish inside. Drink service was fine and frequent, good flow, and decent wines. IFE did not work on any of the legs First flight delayed 60 Minutes – this was announced well in advance and on airport monitors. Second flight delayed 90 Minutes and there was chaos at the gate as the flight was overbooked. The cabins were worn and torn, but the FA staff were good and polite. Call bells answered. Airbridge embarking and disembarking.
2. Cathay Pacific Business Class 8/10
Flew Dubai-HKG-Saigon. Started the travel from in transit in DXB 19-20 August 2019 on A330-300 and B777-300 aircrafts. Cathay uses the Lufthansa Lounge in DXB but it only opened 3 hours prior to departure and I had 12 hours in transit. Thus, I used BA’s lounge instead as I am Oneworld elite card holder. BA lounge is much better and lounge staff extremely polite and helpful. Flights on time. Service levels by FAs among the best in the skies. Deutz champagne welcome drink. However, food and drinks are deteriorating and has absolutely no business glamour: only 3 juices offered, only 2 cheap industrial beers (Carlsberg and San Miguel), no smoothies, no blue cheese. Seat Belt was on for hours without any turbulence – likely a cost saving measure and to allow FA to rest? But the passengers are left in the dark and there is no serving while the seat belt lamps are on. Bad experience. First flight provided a good dinner (3 options). I had seabass and later Japanese Noodle soup as mains. However, breakfast poor and only cold stuff served. Second flight was a morning flight: nice large Chinese Dim Sum breakfast served with lots of different, sophisticated dumplings. Lounges in HKG are very good and I was offered 5 options. IFE is good and clear. Priority boarding. Luggage handled perfectly. Mileage given quickly. Not cheap.
3. Vietnam Airlines Business Class 9/10
Flew domestic Saigon to Hue 20th Aug. 2019 on their A321. Check in SGN took 1 Minute (yes!), Lounge access (Lotus Lounge) given for at least 6 hours as I arrived early from international connection. Lounge was fine, plenty of supplies, though neither luxury foods nor drinks. Baggage handled well. Onboard, I was treated with respect and humble attitude by FAs. Had a pizza for dinner with some Halida beers (my local favorite). Only 8 seats in business class of which 6 was taken. Huge, classical business class seats were very good and soft. In conclusion, no issues, though no extravagancy. Fast track. Affordable ticket, some 130 USD return trip. Airbridge provided in Saigon gives an extra point, otherwise only 8/10.
