JetBlue unveils Mint 2.0

The JFK-based “budget airline” unveiled Mint – it’s

premium travel at “unpremium” prices -

offering in 2014. At the time, JetBlue was hailed a disruptor in the American airline industry as it went into direct competition against the well-established United, American and Delta and their respective premium cabins - but at much lower fares.

Later this year JetBlue is set to launch its first – albeit delayed – Transatlantic services – JFK and Boston to London and its premium cabin has had a refreshing makeover. It is expected that this next generation offering will also feature – on a smaller scale - on its lucrative New York to Los Angeles route. It has been five years in the planning and Mint 2.0 is finally set to take to the skies. It will feature 24 seats/private suites – each with a door that fully closes. In addition, there are two new, extra-large Mint Studio suites that can accommodate two passengers. The Mint Studio is akin to an “apartment in the sky” and according to JetBlue, at 2.1 square metres (22.7 square feet) is the most spacious in a premium experience from any American airline. The Studio features a lie-flat bed and a guest seat that can be merged at cruising altitude. This makes it a very sizeable business-class bed – over 1 metre in width. These special Studio suites also boast a 22-inch entertainment screen.

The new “single” Mint suites feature lie-flat seats, vegan-leather upholstery and a 17-inch entertainment screen. The new sliding doors make for maximum privacy. In late 2020, JetBlue enhanced its inflight amenity providers. Along with new food & beverage menus, Master & Dynamic MH40 noise-isolating over-the-ear headphones, wellness kits from Wanderfuel and sleeping kits from Tuft & Needle were introduced.

We put our heart into this redesign of Mint and were inspired by our original vision of offering customers an exceptional experience at a lower fare – which is what JetBlue is all about.” JetBlue flies mainly Airbus 321 and 320 aircraft on nearly 100 routes across the U.S. to the Caribbean, and Latin America.
