Virgin America has teamed up with Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, to offer travellers access to the film and TV programme streaming site in the air.

The complimentary in-flight WiFi is available onboard Virgin America’s new ViaSat WiFi-equipped aircraft, and allows new and existing Netflix customers to enjoy its catalog of films and programmes throughout their flight. Passengers can stream to their phones, tablets, and laptops at no cost until March 2, 2016.

Virgin America's new A320 The new feature follows Virgin America’s recent partnership with ViaSat to bring significantly faster WiFi to the airline’s 10 new airbus A320 aircraft - being delivered between 2015 and mid-2016.

Abby Lunardini

, Virgin America Vice President of Brand Marketing and Communications, said: “Netflix and Virgin America are both known for their focus on innovation and for shaking up their respective industries – so we’re thrilled to team up to bring the best in technology and entertainment to the skies.”

Netflix access on board A recent report found that 52 airlines worldwide now offer in-flight Wi-Fi and that Middle Eastern carriers Emirates and Etihad charge the lowest tariffs for on-board access.
