Earlier this week Etihad launched their new premium products, among them the new 'The Residence', which has attracted a lot of attention. BusinessClass were at the launch in the United Arab Emirates where we got to test the new products - so here's a few more photos of The Residence. Enjoy!
The Residence by Etihad 'The Residence by Etihad' is Etihad's new premium product, it is basically a three room flat with a combined living and dining room, a bedroom, and a bathroom with shower. The Residence can be booked for either one or two passengers. The first thing you see after the door has been opened is the combined living and dining room with a beige sofa in Poltrona Frau leather, the same leather that is used in Ferrari cars.
The living room, the footstool and the large television
The living room in The Residence In front of the sofa there's a table which you can unfold for meals.
Dinner on new porcelain An exclusive VIP Concierge is available before departure to cater for any wishes or needs during the flight. As for food and drinks you can basically order anything in advance, just let the airline know beforehand. There's also an excellent first class menu on board, and the staff will arrange anything possible with the food they have loaded. The Residence also has its own mini bar with cold drinks for the trip.

Sample menu The food is prepared by the regular cabin personnel, but only the butler is allowed to serve and communicate with the passengers in The Residence. Other passengers on the airplane will not know who lives in The Residence, and neither will a majority of the cabin crew. All butlers have extensive experience from other service professions, but before starting to work at the airline they will be educated at the Savoy Butler Academy in London, which is part of the world renowned Savoy Hotel. The uniforms have been designed by the Italian designer Ettore Bilotta.
Butlers in Etihad The Residence Opposite of the sofa there is also a 32'' TV which, apart from the regular entertainment system, offers live television. There are also sockets for HDMI and USB as well as, of course, wall sockets. All functionality is controlled through a touch screen remote control which adjusts the footstool in front of the sofa, the lighting and lighting effects, lowering and advancing the window shades, and adjusting all the functionality of the sofa when it comes to positioning, hardness, and the built-in massage.

Plenty of storage space To the right after the entrance there is a small corridor leading from the livingroom to the bedroom and also passing the bathroom to the left side, which has a separate door. The bathroom consists of a large toiletry table with large mirrors, a toilet and a shower. As opposed to for example Emirates, who also have a shower in first class on their Airbus A380, there is no limit to how much water you can use - this is a result of the aeroplane having its own water cleaning system for The Residence. Even the toiletries can be adjusted after personal demands, and it can be ordered via the VIP concierge. You can have your favourite soap and perfume waiting for you when you get on board.

The bedroom In front of the bed there is a 27'' LCD-TV, so The Residence has two television sets. The new Airbus A380 has a new entertainment system on board of the model Panasonic eX3 which is fully interactive and which is controlled through an interactive touch screen remote control where the entire menu appears on the remote control.

Soft and comfortable, the way it should be The Residence will be available on Etihad's Airbus A380, one The Residence flat per airplane located in the front left of the upper deck. The maiden flight will depart in December and will likely go from Abu Dhabi to London.
