12 minutes before the scheduled time, at 5:43am, the first aircraft arrived at the new terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport, the terminal which will gradually become Star Alliance's new home at the airport.

The airport management announced that, so far, everything was working well and they have had no problems. More than 1,000 passengers have now arrived in the new terminal and 300 passengers have checked in for departing flights. United Airlines is the first airline to move into terminal 2 and it was their flight, UA 958 from Chicago O'Hare, which inaugurated the terminal just before 6am. The first departure was flight UA 123 Washington, at 7.30am. 34 flights will arrive or depart from terminal 2 today, to or from 6 destinations in America. BusinessClass.co.uk was here last spring and surreptitiously looked at the new terminal, you can see all the pictures via this link.

First aircraft bound for terminal 2 has just landed United Airlines also has its own lounge in terminal 2, with a business class area and a first class area. In the first class lounge there is a tea room and a restaurant with an a la carte menu. Read more about the lounge in this article.
