Today is the tenth anniversary of the Airbus A380's maiden flight. It is the world's largest commercial aircraft, seating just over 600 passengers over two classes. Today, 155 Airbus A380’s take to the skies for 13 airlines, with over 2 million passengers every month.
The Airbus A380 is very popular among passengers worldwide - large, quiet and modern, as well as offering airlines many possibilities on board. Emirates have showers in First Class, Korean Air has a duty-free shop and Etihad Airways has small apartments in First Class. Several companies also have a bar in the Business Class cabin. Before the first aircraft was put into operation, there were even more exciting plans for this great aircraft, but the past few years the focus has been on increasing the profitability of these giants. Airbus recently announced plans for 11 seats across in Economy Class and Emirates will soon fly with more than 600 seats in two classes. The aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, like to portray Airbus as a great success, but the fact is that the aircraft has not sold as well as expected. No Airbus A380's have been sold in the United States, South America, Africa or Japan, with only five aircraft going to China. Nearly 50% of all sold aircraft have gone to a single customer: Emirates, with 140 orders out of a total of 317 sold aircraft. One reason is the global trend to launch new long-haul routes with a narrow customer base. These routes are more suited to aircraft models like the Boeing 787 which offers good economy for relatively less passengers. The Airbus A380 gets high marks from our readers when it comes to comfort and overall experience on board. For those who love the Airbus A380, here is a special website '
