Singapore Airlines has recently topped Business Traveller magazine’s annual competition, "Cellars in the sky". The jury tasted 250 wines from 35 different companies before announcing Singapore as the airline with the best on-board wine cellar.
Singapore Airlines is committed to offering its customers the best wine on board and even has a wine panel which each year taste more than 1,000 different wines. Appearance, odour and taste are carefully assessed under cabin pressure and the dry air that affects our taste buds when we fly. “The longer you fly, the more important the on board experience is. This includes good food and drink. Many of our passengers are knowledgable when it comes to wine and choose our company because they know that we have both a good wine selection and good wines on board,” says Henrik Hanevold for Singapore Airlines.
Singapore Airlines serves more than than two million bottles aboard its flights annually, of which about 200,000 are Champagne. The airline is particularly known for being the only airline to serve both Dom Pérignon and Krug Grande Cuvee to passengers in Suites and First Class. With competition among premium travel ever-increasing, airlines are constantly looking for a unique selling point - something that sets them apart from their rivals - and a world-class bottle of wine or champagne, as well as restaurant-style food, is without a doubt something that we at BusinessClass appreciate and value highly.
