Singapore Airlines will launch a new route from Singapore to the Australian capital of Canberra and New Zealand capital Wellington. Singapore Airlines’ 'Capital Express' route will be the first direct service between the two capital cities.

Assuming final approval from authorities, from September 20, 2016, four weekly departures will connect Singapore, Canberra and Wellington. A newly refurbished Boeing 777-200 will be deployed on the route - with 38 seats in Business Class and 228 seats in Economy Class. As well as becoming the first airline to fly between Canberra and Wellington, Singapore Airlines will also be the first airline to offer regular international flights to and from Australia's capital Canberra. “This new service linking Singapore, Canberra and Wellington reflects the close ties between the three countries. We are excited about the prospects for our new ‘Capital Express’ route, which we are confident will appeal to leisure, government and corporate travellers. We are especially pleased to be bringing more convenient travel options to customers with Canberra’s first regularly scheduled international flights and the first non-stop links between the capitals of Australia and New Zealand,” said Singapore Airlines CEO, Mr Goh Choon Phong.
