SAS Introduces SAS Go Light - New ticket for travellers with only hand luggage

SAS has introduced SAS Go Light, a targeted fare option for European travelers seeking maximum value and flexibility with hand luggage only. This innovative ticket class aligns SAS with major European carriers such as British Airways, Finnair, and Lufthansa, all of which have responded to the growing demand for unbundled, à la carte pricing in the premium economy segment.

Launched across select European markets—including Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain—SAS Go Light was initially rolled out in these diverse regions to cater to both business and leisure passengers. Following successful adoption and positive customer feedback, SAS Go Light is now available network-wide across SAS's extensive European routes, reflecting the airline's commitment to customer-centric fare innovation.

SAS Go Light excludes complimentary checked luggage, catering to travelers who value speed and efficiency. Should you require a checked bag, you may add one during booking or online check-in for a competitive fee of €25. Passengers opting to pay for checked baggage at the airport will incur a higher charge. SAS Go and SAS Plus fares continue to include the established checked baggage allowances, ensuring a tiered offering for various traveler needs.

Frequent flyers benefit from enhanced allowances: EuroBonus Silver members receive one complimentary checked bag with a Go Light ticket, while Gold and Diamond members are entitled to two. Star Alliance Gold status holders also enjoy additional baggage benefits, maintaining consistency with alliance-wide privileges.

Other features of SAS Go Light remain consistent with standard SAS Go fares. Travelers can book up to 24 hours before departure, select seats during online check-in (from 22 hours prior, or earlier for a fee—waived for EuroBonus Gold and Diamond), and purchase premium add-ons such as airport lounge access. Complimentary coffee and tea continue to be served on board, upholding SAS’s tradition of Scandinavian hospitality.
