Qatar Airways to open Birmingham route

From March 30, 2016, Qatar Airways will operate eight flights per week between Doha and the City of Birmingham, and a total of 71 weekly flights from Doha to the UK, adding to existing services to London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Qatar Airways will fly every day of the week to Birmingham, including two flights on Saturdays. On

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays

and

Sundays,

flights will depart Doha at 07.30 to arrive in Birmingham at 12.50. The return leg will depart Birmingham at 15.00, landing in Doha at 23.50. On

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays

and

Saturdays,

flights will depart Doha at 01.25, arriving in Birmingham at 06.45. In the opposite direction, flights all leave Birmingham at 09.15, landing in Doha at 18.05. The route will be served by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a two-cabin configuration, comprising of 22 (fully-flat) seats in business class and 232 economy class seats. Wi-Fi will also available throughout the aircraft.

, said: “Not only will our passengers have the choice of flying with the award winning carrier to Doha’s state-of-the-art hub Hamad International Airport, they will have a choice of 152 destinations served by the airline, including South East Asia, China and Australasia.” The new route opens up a host of onward connection to destinations across the Middle East and Asia, including Pakistan, Thailand Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

We look forward to welcoming new passengers on board our award-winning product, and to connecting Birmingham to the rest of our rapidly expanding network.” Doha has received billions of pounds of investment ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. This has seen extensive developments to build up tourism infrastructure with new stadiums, hotels and commercial centres, including 12 state of the art stadiums and a £1billion off-shore hotel resort.
