British Airways has released images of the new First cabin that will make its debut on BA’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The Dreamliner, the first of which is due to be delivered to British Airways at the end of September, will fly to Abu Dhabi and Muscat from November 5.
New BA First cabin The 787-9 is 20ft longer and offers an extra cabin compared to its 787-8 predecessor. Its First cabin will have eight seats, compared to the usual 14 on other BA long-haul aircraft.
New BA First cabin Specifically designed for the Boeing 787-9 by London design firm Forpeople, the new first class suites are based on feedback from customers, with comfort the primary objective. Soft leather, fabric trim and a variety of storage spaces have been incorporated into the fully-flat seats. Three new storage areas include compartments for shoes, bags, tablets, passports and a range of personal items. Suits and jackets can be stowed away in a 'personal suitor’, which is accessible without leaving the seat. The 'jog-dial' on the seat controls a number of seat functions, including the headrest and lumbar support, and a 'global' lighting control to set both ambient and reading lighting. Passengers can charge devices in a discreet stowage area next to the armrest.
New BA First cabin The in-flight entertainment is controlled with a new smartphone-style handset, offering a choice between the hand held 'smartphone' and the fitted 23inch screen. Lighting throughout the aircraft reflects the time of day to help passengers to get to sleep easily at night and wake up fresh in the morning. The chances of arriving feeling fresher are also increased by the lower pressurisation of the cabins.
New BA First cabin Flights will depart Heathrow at 09.40 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 20.55, before departing Abu Dhabi at 21.55 and arriving in Muscat at 23.05.
