In spring 2016, the new satellite pier in Terminal 2 at Munich Airport will open. The terminal is to be primarily used by Lufthansa and Star Alliance. Coinciding with the opening, Lufthansa will be launching five new lounges in the new terminal building, and Lufthansa has recently released more details of what to expect.
A total of five new lounges, with a total area of 4,000 square metres, will be opening in the new building, all located centrally. There will be dedicated lounges for business class passengers, gold card holders and first-class passengers. All lounges will offer excellent views of the airport through large panoramic windows. A new first class lounge is being built on the top floor. The lounge will be 1000 square metres and have multiple bedrooms, work areas, a bar area and cigar room. For those who want to eat, both an à la carte menu and a self-service buffet will be available. The new first class lounge comes just as the existing first class lounge in Munich is getting its own passport control, creating seamless connections between Schengen and non-Schengen flights, and can be used by both travellers to Schengen destinations and destinations outside the Schengen area. If the aircraft is parked some distance from the terminal building a limousine transfer to and from the aircraft will be arranged. Another four lounges will be opening in the terminal - two Senator Lounges for Gold Card passengers and two business lounges for business class passengers. In the non-Schengen area, a Senator Lounge and Business Lounge will offer a staffed bar serving hot and cold drinks. The Senator Lounges will offer Bavarian specialties such as Leberkäs mit Brezn, potato salad, meat loaf and Bavarian pretzels. Breakfast dishes will be available in the morning and a variety of hot dishes later in the day. The business lounges will have a bistro area with simple food and drink. All lounges will offer work areas, multiple televisions and showers.
